A Faustian love affair

I sold my soul to the devil
Tossed away my breath
I threw my all to the never
And gave my heart to death

I broke my back for vanity
And murdered for fame
Spilled blood of the innocent
All in love’s name

You were promised to me, if I were better
So better I became
Yet when you saw my glory
You cried out in shame

Who could love such a fickle heart
A dancing flame in wind
I sought your love to cherish
But you burned it into to sin

So I took it all, hate and shame
Body, blood and bone
Set fire to your wicked tears
And your empty heart of stone.
